Industrial and high-performance heat pumps
Our highly efficient industrial and high-performance heat pumps are solutions tailored to the respective project and customer needs ("tailor made solutions"). For the core component of our heat pumps, the compressor, we cooperate on an exclusive basis with Atlas Copco Energas GmbH, one of the leading manufacturers of turbo compressors worldwide. Our heat pumps are characterized by the following features:
- Output range > 5 MWthermal up to approx. 50 MWthermal per unit or line
- Temperature level from 80°C to 300°C (heat sink)
- COP (Coefficient of Performance): 2.0 – 5.0
- Avoiding the use of classic, fluorinated or halogenated refrigerants with high Global Warming Potential (GWP)
- Sub-critical or super-critical cycle processes based on climate-neutral hydrocarbons (e.g. n-butane, isobutane) or CO2 as the working medium
- If necessary, the heat pump can be supplemented with additional vapor compression with a turbo compressor of the same design
- Use of extremely robust, low-maintenance, highly efficient and durable 1- to 4-stage turbo compressors
- If required, especially at high pressures, with an expander stage (turbine) for energy recovery on the common shaft with the compressor stages → "Compander"
- 3 installations in district heating systems in Scandinavia with up to 65MW thermal per unit since 1980s as references still in operation
We plan and implement industrial and high-performance heat pumps for the following heat sources and applications (heat sinks):
Typical heat sources:
- Waste heat from industrial production and cooling processes
- Thermal water
- Sewage treatment plant effluents
- Surface and running water
Typical heat sinks:
- Process heat / steam for industry (e.g. chemical, paper and food industries)
- District heating for larger district heating networks
For industrial and high-performance heat pumps, we combine the plant construction know-how of our specialized engineering teams with the comprehensive contractor skills of a financially strong, international construction group.
From this strong position, we can also assume responsibility as general contractor for turnkey heat pump projects of all sizes. This includes the taking over of process and performance guarantees, the material guarantee and a completion guarantee (deadline).
